PostKrisi 50 - 51 - 52 Pendant Lamp
Made by Catellani & Smith
Designed by Enzo Catellani
Enzo Catellani approaches lighting as a sculptor approaches raw material: with patience, intuition, and a willingness to let imperfection become expression. The PostKrisi collection is among his most recognizable works, named for the Greek word for fringe and shaped by that same idea, an edge that is deliberately unresolved, jagged, and alive.
Each shade is formed from fiberglass and finished by hand. The options range from natural and hand-painted white to interiors lined with gold or silver-colored leaf, materials that catch and redirect light rather than simply diffuse it. The result is an illumination that shifts with the hour and the angle of view, casting warm transparencies across a ceiling or table with a quality that feels less engineered than discovered.
- Available in three sizes: PostKrisi 50, 51, and 52
- Fiberglass shade in natural, hand-painted white, gold leaf, or silver leaf lining
- Warm 2700K LED source with Triac dimming
- E27 socket configuration: one bulb for sizes 50 and 51, three bulbs for size 52
- Adjustable suspension cables, cuttable to the desired drop
- Designed and made in Italy by Catellani & Smith
The PostKrisi lamps read differently at different scales. The smaller sizes draw the eye inward, concentrating warmth in an intimate cone of light. The largest version, with its three-bulb arrangement, commands a dining table or open room with authority, its fringed silhouette casting a shadow that is itself part of the composition.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between PostKrisi 50, 51, and 52?
The three sizes differ in diameter and light output. PostKrisi 50 and 51 each use a single E27 bulb and are scaled for more intimate settings, while PostKrisi 52 is the largest version, configured with three E27 bulbs and suited to dining tables or generous open spaces.
What does the gold or silver leaf lining do to the light?
The metallic leaf lining reflects and warms the light before it exits the shade, producing a richer, more directional glow than a plain diffuser would. The effect shifts subtly depending on the viewing angle and the intensity of the source.
Is the PostKrisi shade handmade?
Yes. Each fiberglass shade is shaped and finished by hand at Catellani & Smith's atelier in Italy. The characteristic jagged, fringed edge is a deliberate result of this handcraft process, meaning no two shades are precisely identical.
Can the suspension cable length be adjusted on site?
The suspension cables are adjustable and can be cut to the desired drop length during installation, allowing precise positioning relative to a table or ceiling height.
Who is Enzo Catellani and what defines his design approach?
Enzo Catellani founded Catellani & Smith in Bergamo in 1989, designing and producing each piece within the same atelier. His work is characterized by a direct engagement with material, particularly metal and fiberglass, and a preference for forms that retain evidence of the hand that made them.
