Lederam Manta Pendant Lamps
Made by Catellani & Smith
Designed by Enzo Catellani
Enzo Catellani has long worked at the boundary between craft and light, treating each fixture as an object with its own presence. The Lederam Manta pendant extends that sensibility into suspended form, drawing its silhouette from the fluid geometry of the manta ray.
Two models define the collection. The S1 centers on a 60 cm aluminum shade paired with a single swiveling 17 cm disc. The S2 broadens the composition to a 100 cm fiberglass shade with two swiveling aluminum discs, allowing the fixture to shift and settle into the architecture around it. Both house ultra-flat LED modules that emit a warm 2700K light, producing atmosphere without visual noise.
- Finish options spanning black, white, gold leaf, copper leaf, satin, and gold details
- S1 output: 1,550 lumens; S2 output: 3,100 lumens
- Swiveling disc elements allow considered directional adjustment
- Handcrafted in Italy by Catellani & Smith
The gold leaf and copper leaf finishes are applied by hand, a process rooted in the artisan traditions of northern Italy that Catellani has championed throughout his career. Each piece carries the quiet variation that only handwork produces.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between Lederam Manta S1 and S2?
The S1 features a 60 cm aluminum shade with one swiveling 17 cm disc and outputs 1,550 lumens. The S2 uses a larger 100 cm fiberglass shade with two swiveling aluminum discs and outputs 3,100 lumens, making it suited to wider or more architecturally significant spaces.
Are the gold leaf finishes applied by hand?
Yes. Catellani & Smith applies gold leaf and copper leaf finishes by hand at their Bergamo atelier, a practice central to the brand's identity since its founding. The result carries subtle, natural variation from piece to piece.
What color temperature does the Lederam Manta use?
Both S1 and S2 models use integrated LED modules calibrated to 2700K, a warm white that reinforces the fixture's atmospheric quality and complements the gold and copper finish options.
Can the disc elements on the Lederam Manta be repositioned?
Yes. The aluminum discs swivel, allowing for considered directional adjustment after installation. This makes the fixture adaptable to different ceiling heights and table configurations.
Who is the designer behind Catellani & Smith?
Enzo Catellani founded Catellani & Smith in Bergamo, Italy in 1989. He designs every piece in the collection himself, combining artisan metalwork traditions with a sculptural approach to light that has earned the brand consistent recognition in international design culture.
