Michael Anastassiades

Born 1967 | Turkey

Michael Anastassiades was born in 1967 in Cyprus. He initially trained as a civil engineer at Imperial College London before earning a master’s degree in industrial design at the Royal College of Art. He founded his London studio in 1994 and later established his own brand in 2007. His background in engineering informs a disciplined and highly technical approach, while his design language remains quiet, essential, and emotionally resonant.

Throughout his career, Anastassiades has created lighting, furniture, and objects for leading international manufacturers such as Flos, B&B Italia, Herman Miller, Cassina, Alessi, and Molteni C. His work explores balance, proportion, and the expressive power of light, often using simple geometric forms to create sculptural presence. His designs are included in the permanent collections of major institutions including the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
