Nuvola extends the Fil de Fer lineage into something suspended between sculpture and atmosphere. Enzo Catellani shapes and weaves aluminum wire by hand into a form that recalls a cloud, then illuminates it from within with small warm bulbs. The result is less a lamp than a glowing presence: soft at its edges, alive at its center.
Fil de Fer, which translates simply as "wire," has been central to Catellani & Smith's identity since its introduction. The material is humble in origin and precise in execution. Each piece is made in Italy, in the workshop Catellani has run in Grassobbio, near Bergamo, since 1989. The craft is visible in every bend and junction of the wire.
Nuvola is offered in three sizes. The standard version comes in natural aluminum wire with a nickel base. An anodized gold version is available on request. Warm 2700K LED light with Triac dimming produces between 1,656 and 3,036 lumens depending on the model. Suspension cables can be cut to length, and additional dimensions are available for projects with specific requirements.
