CicloItalia Floor Lamp
Made by Catellani & Smith
Designed by Enzo Catellani
CicloItalia is Enzo Catellani's conversation with his own past. Conceived as a direct evolution of Ciclocina, the lamp he designed in 1989, it carries that original gesture forward through a composition built entirely from hand-crafted brass and frosted glass. The phrase "a light from the past" is not nostalgia; it is a considered acknowledgment that certain forms earn their permanence.
The floor version rests on a black base, its brass structure rising with quiet authority. A frosted glass lens diffuses the low-voltage COB LED source into a 2700K glow of 600 lumens, warm enough to read atmosphere into a room without overwhelming it. Every element is made by hand in Italy, each piece carrying the slight variation that only human craft produces.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the origin of the CicloItalia design?
CicloItalia is Enzo Catellani's evolution of Ciclocina, a lamp he originally designed in 1989 for Catellani & Smith. The newer design preserves the formal language of the original while refining its materiality and light source for contemporary use.
What materials is the CicloItalia Floor Lamp made from?
The lamp is constructed entirely from hand-crafted brass, paired with a frosted glass lens and a black base. All components are made by hand in Italy, giving each piece a subtle individuality inherent to artisan production.
What kind of light does the CicloItalia emit?
It uses a low-voltage COB LED source rated at 2700K with 600 lumens and a CRI of 80, producing a warm, diffused glow suited to atmospheric rather than task lighting.
Is the CicloItalia available in other configurations?
Yes. The CicloItalia is produced in both floor and table versions, each sharing the same hand-crafted brass construction and design vocabulary.
How does Catellani & Smith approach craft in its production?
Catellani & Smith, founded by Enzo Catellani in Parma, Italy, is known for production methods that prioritize the hand over the machine. Metalwork, assembly, and finishing are carried out by skilled artisans, a practice the studio has maintained since its founding.
