Grid System, designed by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec for Established & Sons in 2019, proposes a new category of object: part furniture, part architecture. Its powder-coated steel frame reads as an open structural shell, one that neither fully encloses nor fully opens a space, but holds it in a productive tension.
The system scales to the demands of any project. Straight runs, corner configurations, U-shapes, room dividers, shelving bays, and integrated worksurfaces are all possible within the same formal language. Seating, tables, screens, and storage attach to the frame, so the composition can shift as the program shifts.
The Bouroullec brothers have long been drawn to the idea of the "room within a room," a spatial device that organizes without dominating. Grid is their most direct built expression of that idea, useful in open-plan offices, hospitality environments, and residential interiors where fixed partitions are either impossible or undesirable.
