Ventaglio Table
Made by Cassina
Designed by Charlotte Perriand
Charlotte Perriand believed that furniture should respond to life in all its complexity. The Ventaglio, Italian for "fan," distills that belief into a single, resolute form. Fourteen wooden staves, placed side by side and assembled with the precision Cassina's carpenters are known for, open into an asymmetrical fan-shaped surface that refuses a single definition. It is neither purely a dining table nor purely a desk, but both, and more.
A configurable central section allows the table to seat between five and nine guests, or to accommodate a working team with room for screens and professional tools. The silhouette is at once architectural and warm. The radiating stave construction carries an almost geological rhythm, a reminder that Perriand drew as readily from the natural world as from the drafting table.
- Fourteen-stave fan construction in solid wood
- Asymmetrical form adaptable to dining and professional use
- Configurable central section seats five to nine
- Crafted by Cassina to the original Perriand specifications
Perriand spent decades questioning how people inhabit space, working alongside Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret before forging a body of work unmistakably her own. The Ventaglio is among her most considered statements: a table that holds the geometry of the fan in wood, and holds within that geometry a genuine argument for how we might gather.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does "Ventaglio" mean and why that form?
Ventaglio is the Italian word for "fan." Perriand chose the radiating fan silhouette to resolve a specific problem: how a single table can serve both intimate gatherings and larger, more functional group settings. The asymmetrical spread of the staves allows varied seating arrangements without sacrificing the integrity of the form.
How many people can the Ventaglio Table seat?
The configurable central section allows the table to seat between five and nine people, making it suitable for private dining as well as professional or collaborative contexts.
What materials is the Ventaglio Table made from?
The table is constructed from solid wood staves, assembled in the joinery tradition that defines Cassina's workshop practice. The stave-by-stave composition produces a surface with a directional grain pattern that reads differently from each angle.
Who was Charlotte Perriand and what is her design legacy?
Charlotte Perriand (1903-1999) was a French architect and designer whose work fundamentally shaped the relationship between modernism and everyday life. She collaborated extensively with Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret before developing an independent practice informed by craft traditions, the natural environment, and a rigorous social vision for how people inhabit space.
Is the Ventaglio Table made to order?
Yes, the Ventaglio Table is produced to order by Cassina in Italy, following the original specifications established by Perriand. Lead times should be confirmed at the time of purchase.
