Noctambule Suspension 1 Low Cylinder Bowl

Konstantin Grcic conceived Noctambule in 2019 around a single observation: that a lamp can have two entirely different identities depending on the light. Its name comes from the French word for a night owl, and the logic follows. By day, the transparent blown-glass cylinders recede almost completely into their surroundings. After dark, LED rings at each intersection illuminate the column from within, producing diffused, atmospheric light with a quiet intensity.

The Suspension 1 Low Cylinder Bowl configuration pairs a single glass cylinder with a semi-spherical bowl diffuser below, making it the most distilled expression of the system. Die-cast aluminium ring connectors and a hydroformed steel internal arm give the structure its precision without adding visual weight. Injection-moulded optical opal silicone outer-ring diffusers soften the LED output, spreading light evenly at 2700K.

Dimming ranges from 10 to 100 percent via 0-10V, 110V, PUSH, or DALI control, with the power supply housed discreetly in the ceiling rose. Noctambule is modular by design: a single cylinder here, a tower of six elsewhere. The same formal language scales across both.
