Arete Set of 2 Dessert Plates
Made by Cassina
Designed by Charlotte Perriand
The Arete dessert plates belong to Le Monde de Charlotte Perriand, Cassina's tribute to one of the twentieth century's most consequential designers. Perriand's practice was grounded in landscape: the ridgelines, textures, and geometries she encountered in the alpine terrain she returned to throughout her life.
Each plate is crafted in Italy from ceramic, its surface marked by a delicate relief pattern that recalls the silhouette of mountain crests. The form is wholly functional. The gesture is distinctly Perriand: nature observed, distilled, and given new purpose through design.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who was Charlotte Perriand and why does her work matter?
Charlotte Perriand (1903-1999) was a French architect and designer whose collaboration with Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret helped define the modernist interior. Her work consistently drew from natural forms, vernacular craft, and her deep connection to alpine landscapes, resulting in objects that feel both elemental and precisely considered.
What is the Le Monde de Charlotte Perriand collection by Cassina?
Le Monde de Charlotte Perriand is Cassina's ongoing tribute to Perriand's broader creative world, extending beyond furniture into objects and tableware that reflect her philosophy. The collection is developed in close collaboration with her estate and the Perriand archive.
What material are the Arete dessert plates made from?
The Arete plates are crafted in Italy from ceramic, finished with a relief pattern that references the ridgelines and textures of alpine terrain central to Perriand's visual language.
Are these plates suitable for everyday use or purely decorative?
The Arete dessert plates are functional tableware, designed for use at the table. As with all ceramic pieces, care should be taken to follow the manufacturer's guidelines for cleaning and handling to preserve the relief surface over time.
How does Cassina preserve the integrity of Perriand's designs?
Cassina works directly with the estates and archives of the designers it represents, ensuring that proportions, materials, and production methods remain faithful to the original vision. For Perriand's work, this means close collaboration with her daughter Pernette Perriand-Barsac and the associated foundation.
