28 Series
Made by Bocci
Designed by Omer Arbel
The 28 Series is the work of Omer Arbel, whose practice at Bocci begins not with a sketch but with the development of technique. Each hand-blown glass sphere is formed through a proprietary process that introduces recessed inclusions directly into the molten glass, creating an interior geometry that exists nowhere else in production glasswork.
No two pieces are identical. The irregularity is not incidental but essential, the natural consequence of a process that resists mechanical repetition. At 2700K, light passes through the hand-blown walls and the captured voids, producing a glow that is warm, diffuse, and quietly alive.
The 28 Series is designed for broad configurability. It can be specified as:
- Single pendants for intimate, focused installations
- Random multi-light arrangements scaled to the architecture
- Custom chandelier compositions developed in collaboration with the Bocci studio
Made to order in Vancouver, each configuration is a direct expression of the glassblower's hand and the particular conditions of that casting. The result is lighting that carries the character of its own making.

Frequently Asked Questions
What makes the Bocci 28 Series glass technique unique?
Omer Arbel developed a proprietary glassblowing process that forms recessed inclusions inside each sphere during the blowing stage. These interior voids are integral to the glass itself, not added after, and they are what give the 28 Series its characteristic depth and diffused light quality.
Can the 28 Series be configured for large architectural installations?
Yes. The series is engineered for significant flexibility, supporting single pendants, multi-light cluster compositions, stem systems, surface-mounted configurations, and floor or table applications. Large-scale canopy arrangements are frequently specified for hospitality and commercial projects.
Is each 28 Series pendant truly one of a kind?
Because the forming process is driven by the behavior of molten glass rather than a fixed mold, each sphere carries its own proportions and interior geometry. Variation is inherent to the method, so no two pendants are exactly alike.
What color temperatures and glass finishes are available?
The 28 Series is offered in clear glass and a range of color options, all at 2700K. The warm color temperature is selected to complement the diffusing quality of the hand-blown spheres and the soft glow produced by the recessed inclusions.
How long does it take to receive a Bocci 28 Series order?
All 28 Series pieces are made to order in Bocci's Vancouver studio. Lead times vary depending on configuration complexity and quantity. For specific project timelines, consultation with a design specialist is recommended early in the specification process.
