118t Table Lamp
Made by Bocci
Designed by Omer Arbel
The 118 series began as a question: what does glass remember? For designer Omer Arbel, the answer lives in the feather-like impressions captured within each hand-blown opal globe, the quiet residue of breath and touch preserved in molten material. Light does not simply pass through the glass. It reveals what is already there.
The 118t translates this sensibility from suspended form to surface. A single 118 pendant is married to Bocci's sculptural table hardware, available in brass or black, with an integrated dimmer housed within a compact cylinder at the base. The semi-rigid black fabric cord can be shaped by hand, offering a small degree of compositional intent, a considered placement rather than a fixed one.

Frequently Asked Questions
How is the glass in the Bocci 118t made?
Each 118 globe is hand-blown individually, a process that captures feather-like impressions within the opal glass as evidence of the maker's breath and physical touch. Because the technique is entirely manual, no two pieces are identical.
What hardware finishes are available for the 118t?
The 118t table hardware is offered in two finishes: brass and black. Both are paired with a semi-rigid black fabric cord that can be shaped by hand to adjust the lamp's posture on a surface.
Does the Bocci 118t have a built-in dimmer?
Yes. An integral dimming system is housed within the compact cylinder that forms the base of the lamp, keeping the hardware profile clean without requiring a separate inline control.
Who is Omer Arbel?
Omer Arbel is a Canadian architect and designer, and the creative director of Bocci, the Vancouver-based studio he founded. His work investigates the intersection of industrial process and material accident, with glass as a recurring medium across many of Bocci's most recognized series.
How does opal glass affect the quality of light in the 118t?
Opal glass diffuses light evenly across the surface of the globe rather than transmitting it directly, producing a soft, ambient glow. The internal impressions captured during blowing create subtle variation in the diffusion, giving the light a quiet visual depth.
