Birds on Wire
Made by COVO
Every morning, the same scene: a wire strung with birds, seen from below, against the sky. For the designer behind Birds on Wire, that daily commute through New York City became an act of looking, and eventually, an act of making.
A photograph of that familiar urban sight was abstracted and translated into a laser-cut steel silhouette, its contour at once architectural and animate. The hooks that emerge from the composition are fully integrated, never afterthoughts. The piece reads as drawing, as shadow, as wall-mounted object.
- Painted steel construction, laser cut for precision edge definition
- Wall-mounted with integrated coat hooks
- Silhouette form references Victorian paper cutting and hand-drawn gesture
- Designed by Covo for the domestic interior
There is something quietly generous about the concept: an everyday image, seen by thousands, rendered permanent and functional. Birds on Wire asks the hallway wall to hold both coats and a small piece of observed life.
