Finnish designer Ari Kanerva’s Tiuku Standing Pendulum Clock transforms the conventional structure of the grandfather clock into the ideal urbane representation of utility and consistency. Defying the original ornate and decorative traditions of such objects, the design eschews the superfluous and instead focuses on the minimal form which is devised by the clock’s function. Tiuku, which means “bell” in Finnish, is made of metal and stands tall on two distinctive legs at over six feet in a lucid design that retains the elements of efficient craftsmanship intrinsic to hanging timekeepers. The imposing pendulum clock, with its smooth metal feel and peculiar height, leans at an angle when secured against the wall and will draw the eye’s attention and liven up any space with its unique design and color. The black clock features a white swinging pendulum; white and orange clocks feature a black swinging pendulum.

  • A new version of the pendulum clock, an useful object, simple but, at the same time, able to furnish any place, public or private
  • The clocks body is powder coated sheet steel that is laser cut and bent, which stiffens the legs and creates a three-dimensional object from the two-dimensional sheet
  • Tiuku MUST BE mounted to the wall with two screws and remains leaning at a slight angle when installed
  • Mounting the clock to the wall ensures that the pendulum mechanism in the back is at the right angle in order to activate the swing
