Latva Coat Rack

$1,187 $1,484

Made by COVO

Finnish designer Mikko Laakkonen drew from the quiet geometry of the forest canopy to create Latva, a coat rack whose name translates directly from Finnish as "treetop." Welded steel rods branch outward in a configuration that is at once spare and expressive, echoing the silhouette of a bare tree in winter.

Latva occupies an uncommon position among functional objects: it reads as sculpture when empty and remains resolved in proportion whether dressed with coats, bags, or accessories. Arranged in multiples, individual units form a loose thicket, giving a room both structure and atmosphere without enclosing it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who designed the Latva Coat Rack?

Latva was designed by Mikko Laakkonen, a Finnish designer known for work that draws on the forms and quiet character of Nordic nature. The piece is produced by Italian brand COVO.

What does 'Latva' mean?

Latva is a Finnish word meaning treetop. The name directly references the design's inspiration: the abstracted branching silhouette of a tree seen from below.

What material is the Latva Coat Rack made from?

The Latva is constructed from steel rods that are welded together, giving it both structural integrity and a graphic, almost drawn quality in space.

Can multiple Latva units be used together?

Yes. Latva is designed to be grouped. Arranged in clusters, multiple units create the impression of a sparse forest, functioning simultaneously as a spatial divider and a place to hang coats and bags.

Does the Latva work as a room divider?

It can serve as a soft room divider when placed in multiples. The open steel rod structure defines zones without blocking light or sightlines, making it well suited to open-plan spaces.
