Bell Coffee Table
Made by Classicon
Designed by Sebastian Herkner
Sebastian Herkner's Bell Coffee Table operates on contradiction. The base, hand-blown in a traditional wooden mold, is tinted glass, a material we associate with fragility, yet it anchors the composition with quiet authority. Above it, the pedestal and frame in solid brass or steel introduce weight and permanence. The black lacquered crystal glass top appears to hover, its dark surface catching and diffusing light in equal measure.
The bell silhouette is suggested rather than declared. Herkner studied the vernacular of glassblowing traditions in his research for this piece, and the result carries that heritage without displaying it. Small bubbles and surface variations in the blown glass are not corrected out of the object. They are the object, evidence of the breath and hand that shaped it.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who designed the Bell Coffee Table for ClassiCon?
The Bell Coffee Table was designed by Sebastian Herkner, a German designer known for his deep engagement with craft traditions and material dialogue. He developed the piece through research into historic glassblowing techniques, resulting in a form that bridges industrial precision with artisanal process.
How is the glass base of the Bell Coffee Table made?
The base is hand-blown using a traditional wooden mold, a technique that produces the gently curved, bell-like form. Because each piece is shaped by hand, minor surface variations and small air bubbles are inherent to the process and considered part of the object's character rather than flaws.
What finish options are available for the Bell Coffee Table?
The pedestal and frame are available in solid brass or powder-coated steel, each offering a distinct tonal relationship with the tinted glass base. The tabletop is black lacquered crystal glass across configurations.
Is the Bell Coffee Table made to order?
Yes. Given the hand-blown glass production process, the Bell Coffee Table is made to order, which means lead times are longer than stock items. This is consistent with ClassiCon's commitment to craft-based manufacturing.
How does the Bell Coffee Table hold up in a designed interior?
The table's proportions and material contrast, transparent glass base against a solid metal frame and dark glass top, give it strong visual presence without dominating a room. Architects and designers frequently specify it as a singular accent piece in residential and hospitality settings.
