IC Lights T1 High Table Lamp
Made by Flos
Designed by Michael Anastassiades
Michael Anastassiades drew the IC Lights collection from a single arrested image: the moment in contact juggling when a spinning sphere appears to hang completely still. That conceptual tension, between motion and stillness, between weight and weightlessness, is what the T1 High Table Lamp holds in physical form.
A slender brass rod arcs upward and meets an opaline glass sphere at a single point of contact. Nothing brackets or cradles the sphere. It simply rests there, caught in an equilibrium that feels both precarious and absolute. The composition reads as a kind of drawing in space, minimal and precise, yet full of implied force.
- Opaline glass sphere casts an even, diffused glow free of harsh shadow
- Brass rod and fittings develop a warm, natural patina over time
- Proportions scaled for desks, side tables, and bedside surfaces
- Part of Anastassiades's broader IC Lights family, available in multiple configurations
Anastassiades studied engineering before turning to design, and that background is audible in every decision here. The rod's curve is calibrated. The sphere's weight is not hidden but acknowledged. Together they make an object that rewards sustained looking.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the concept behind the Flos IC Lights collection?
Michael Anastassiades drew inspiration from contact juggling, specifically the moment when a moving sphere appears to freeze in perfect stillness. The IC Lights collection translates that suspended equilibrium into a family of lighting objects, with a brass rod and opaline glass sphere as the defining formal elements.
What materials are used in the IC Lights T1 High Table Lamp?
The lamp is constructed with a polished brass rod and a hand-blown opaline glass sphere. The brass hardware will develop a natural patina with use and age, subtly shifting the character of the object over time.
What is the difference between the two T1 High versions?
The two versions of the IC Lights T1 High differ in the diameter of the opaline glass sphere, which affects both the visual proportion of the lamp and the quality and spread of its light.
Who is Michael Anastassiades?
Michael Anastassiades is a Cyprus-born, London-based designer and founder of his eponymous studio. Trained as a civil engineer before studying industrial design at the Royal College of Art, he is known for objects that explore balance, geometry, and quiet formal tension. His long-standing collaboration with Flos produced some of his most widely recognized works.
How does the IC Lights T1 High fit within the broader IC Lights family?
The IC Lights family spans multiple formats, including suspension pendants, wall-mounted versions, floor lamps, and table lamps, all sharing the same core vocabulary of a brass rod in dialogue with an opaline glass sphere. The T1 High is the taller of the table lamp variants, suited to settings where a greater vertical presence is needed.
