Galaxy is a pendant lamp born from the vision of Charles and Ray Eames, reissued by Cassina as part of its commitment to preserving the most significant works of twentieth-century design. The form is immediately legible: 36 extruded aluminum rods extend outward from a central black semi-sphere, each tipped with a customized LED light source, evoking the geometry of a celestial body caught mid-expansion.
The construction draws on precision manufacturing at every scale. The inner hemisphere is formed in PA66 reinforced with 30% glass fiber. The cover is turned and 3D laser-cut from aluminum sheet. The heat sink is CNC-machined aluminum, and the rods themselves are extruded profiles, each stem graduated in length at 25, 40, and 55 cm to produce a constellation-like depth.
The expanded version answers a clear demand from both residential and contract environments. Approximately 20% larger than the original, with each stem extended by 10 cm, it holds its presence in double-height spaces and generous interiors without losing the controlled precision of the original proportion. Available in matt black, matt white, and polished aluminum finishes.
