The Aura Light began with a single question: what happens when color and light are the same object? Sabine Marcelis, the Rotterdam-based designer known for her rigorous investigation of translucent materials, answered it in 2020 with a long cylindrical form cast in tinted acrylic. A replaceable glass LED tube runs through its core, and the colored surface does not simply tint the light. It absorbs, refracts, and re-emits it as a warm, diffused presence.
Available in rose and apricot, the palette is precise rather than decorative. Each colorway produces a distinctly different atmospheric quality depending on the surrounding surfaces and ambient conditions. A single Aura reads as a color study suspended in space. A grouping becomes something closer to an architectural gesture.
