100 Wall and Ceiling
Made by Bocci
Designed by Omer Arbel
Each piece in the 100 Wall and Ceiling collection begins as a collaboration between multiple glassblowers, who shape and fuse individual glass spheres into an interlocking composition. The form is then cut, exposing a cross-section that reveals the complex relationship between interior and exterior surfaces - a geometry that only becomes fully legible once the piece is illuminated from within.
The collection adapts the sculptural vocabulary of Bocci's 100 Series for direct wall or ceiling mounting, making it available in spaces where a hanging pendant is not possible. The result is a light that reads as object and architecture simultaneously.
- Available in Frosted Clear and Frosted Grey glass
- Warm LED illumination emphasizes the pendant's irregular geometry
- Multiple mounting plate and power supply configurations for varied installation contexts
Omer Arbel founded Bocci in Vancouver in 2005, building a studio practice around glass as both material and medium. The 100 series reflects his ongoing investigation into what glass can hold: light, air, and the trace of the hands that made it.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who designed the Bocci 100 series?
The 100 series was designed by Omer Arbel, founder and creative director of Bocci. Arbel established the Vancouver-based studio in 2005 with a focus on glass as a primary expressive medium, developing production processes that depend on the collaboration of multiple glassblowers working simultaneously on a single piece.
How is the glass in the 100 Wall and Ceiling made?
Multiple glassblowers shape and fuse individual glass spheres into an interlocking composition. The fused form is then cut to expose the interior geometry, revealing a layered cross-section that is only fully visible when the piece is illuminated. Because the process involves live collaboration between makers, no two pieces are identical.
What is the difference between Frosted Clear and Frosted Grey glass options?
Frosted Clear glass diffuses warm LED light evenly, allowing the interior structure to glow with high luminous clarity. Frosted Grey introduces a cooler, more restrained tone that softens the light output and shifts the visual emphasis toward the sculptural form rather than the illumination itself.
Can the 100 Wall and Ceiling be installed on both walls and ceilings?
Yes. The collection is designed for direct surface mounting on either walls or ceilings, and is available with different mounting plate and power supply configurations to accommodate varied architectural conditions. The mounting plate should be selected based on the surface type and the electrical infrastructure of the installation.
What makes Bocci's approach to glass distinct from other lighting studios?
Bocci treats glass not as a material to be controlled but as a medium shaped by the physical limits of the blowing process itself. Each piece reflects the decisions made in real time by multiple glassblowers working together, so variation and irregularity are intrinsic to the work rather than incidental. This places Bocci's output closer to studio art production than to industrial lighting design.
