The Ficupala takes its cues from the plant world, specifically the sculptural geometry of cactus forms, translating them into an indoor lamp that occupies the border between post-modern eclecticism and Art Déco restraint. Cassina's long commitment to working with architects and artists outside the mainstream of minimalism finds a vivid expression here.
A liquid-painted metal structure supports a blown glass body and diffuser, each shaped with the kind of deliberate irregularity that only hand-worked glass allows. The base is Marquinia marble, the dense black Spanish stone whose veining gives every piece a singular presence.
