Chambre Close
Made by Ceccotti Collezioni
Designed by Roberto Lazzeroni
Designed by Roberto Lazzeroni in 1996, Chambre Close began as a quiet act of reconsideration. The valet stand, a piece long confined to function, is redrawn here as a chair of genuine formal character. Its slim, interlocking sections in solid American walnut read like calligraphy, the geometry of the backrest openly referencing Japanese ideograms without mimicry or ornament.
The structure weighs under three kilograms. That lightness is not incidental; it shapes how the piece inhabits a room, how it can be lifted, repositioned, or left simply to stand as a composed object in the bedroom or dressing space. The backrest doubles as a jacket hanger, a trouser bar runs along the lower section, and side hooks accommodate belts or ties. Nothing is added beyond what the form already demands.
An optional padded seat, upholstered in fabric, leather, or natural hide, introduces a horizontal note of comfort without disrupting the chair's essential openness. Walnut finishes range across several tones, with shellac treatments available to draw out the depth and figuring of the grain. Each piece is made to order through Ceccotti Collezioni's Tuscan workshops, where craftsmanship has informed every production decision since the firm's founding in 1956.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Chambre Close designed to do?
Chambre Close functions simultaneously as a chair and a valet stand, with a backrest that serves as a jacket hanger, a trouser bar, and side hooks for accessories such as belts or ties. Roberto Lazzeroni conceived it as a single, resolved object for the bedroom or dressing room rather than two separate pieces.
What wood is used, and what finish options exist?
The chair is constructed from solid American walnut, available in several tonal finishes. Shellac options are offered to accentuate the natural grain and depth of the wood, and each configuration is produced to order.
Can the seat be upholstered, and in what materials?
An optional padded seat is available and can be specified in fabric, leather, or natural hide. The seat is a separate addition to the base structure, leaving the essential silhouette of the chair unchanged when omitted.
