Roberto Lazzeroni drew from two distant sources for the Suzie Wong bed: the romantic cinema of the 1950s and the intimate enclosure of eighteenth-century alcove bedrooms. The result is a reinterpretation of the classic bateau lit, its familiar silhouette made lighter and more contemporary through precise proportions and considered material choices.
Tapered legs, fully upholstered in leather and finished with brass or gunmetal-colored metal tips, lift the bed from the floor with a sense of quiet refinement. The headboard is offered in three distinct expressions:
- A clean, unadorned plane
- A surface punctuated by leather-covered cylindrical buttons
- A face enriched with geometric stitching that references couture tailoring and the tradition of fine leather craft
