Achille Castiglioni approached storage as a problem of proportion. The Lungangolo bookcase is the result: four slender square-section pillars rising nearly nine feet, supporting shelves positioned at deliberately varied heights. The composition reads as architecture in miniature.
A structural drawer and side panel are integrated not as afterthoughts but as load-bearing elements, lending the piece its rigidity while adding a quiet layer of utility. The form is slim enough to inhabit a corner or punctuate a wall without imposing on a room's existing geometry.
