Concepita nel 1977, Cab è una delle proposte più precise di Mario Bellini. Uno scheletro in tubolare d'acciaio è rivestito da un'unica pelle continua di cuoio sellato cucita a mano, tenuta tesa da cerniere che corrono discretamente lungo le gambe interne e sotto la seduta. Niente bulloni, niente elementi di fissaggio esterni. La pelle stessa conferisce alla sedia la sua forma e la sua finitura.

Bellini ha concepito Cab come un'estensione del corpo piuttosto che come una superficie su cui il corpo si appoggia. Il metodo di costruzione è mutuato dalla tradizione della selleria equestre, conferendo alla sedia un'integrità fisica che si approfondisce con l'uso. Con il tempo, la pelle cede e si adatta, portando con sé il ricordo del suo utilizzatore. Ogni sedia diventa silenziosamente unica.
