Flos

Since 1962 | Italy

Founded in 1962 in Merano, Flos was born as a creative workshop where designers like Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni and Tobia Scarpa experimented with new materials and forms, using innovative techniques such as the cocoon polymer to redefine the language of light. Under the guidance of Sergio Gandini, Flos quickly evolved into a cultural force, merging artistic intuition with industrial research and producing icons such as Arco, Viscontea and Taccia, pieces that helped cement Italy’s design identity on the world stage. Its international breakthrough came with the 1972 Italy: The New Domestic Landscape exhibition at MoMA, where Flos presented a revolutionary vision of modern illumination. Today, the company continues to collaborate with leading designers to create lighting that is technically innovative, expressive and deeply connected to contemporary culture.
