The Dry collection was designed by Achille Castiglioni, one of the most celebrated figures in twentieth-century Italian design. Castiglioni was known for his wit, his rigorous attention to function, and his ability to find poetry in everyday objects.

The Dry Table Knife is made from 18/10 stainless steel, a grade that contains 18% chromium and 10% nickel. This composition provides strong corrosion resistance and a surface quality that holds its polish well over time.

The blade carries a mirror polish while the handle is finished in matte, a contrast that is both aesthetic and functional. The matte handle provides grip and a softer visual weight, while the polished blade reflects Castiglioni's interest in material dialogue within a single object.

Alessi generally recommends hand washing for flatware pieces to preserve the integrity of polished and matte finishes over time. Repeated dishwasher cycles can gradually diminish the contrast between the two surface treatments.
