Fil de Fer Pendant Lamp by Catellani & Smith is the brand's most iconic lighting fixture, designed and made by Enzo Catellani from shaped and woven aluminum wire. Originally developed almost twenty years ago for a special commission, the piece remained in Catellani's workshop after the project was never completed. Each time it was illuminated, its magical atmosphere captivated those around it, inspiring the designer to continue refining the idea and eventually bring it into the Catellani & Smith collection.

This pendant lamp is formed as a luminous sphere, lit from within by tiny bulbs that create a warm, atmospheric glow through the intricate weave of metal. Available in natural aluminum wire with a nickel base or in a matte gold anodized finish with a gold-colored plated base, Fil de Fer balances artisanal texture, sculptural presence, and poetic illumination. Offered in three sphere sizes-50, 70, and 100 cm in diameter-it can bring a striking focal point to dining rooms, living spaces, stairwells, hospitality interiors, and refined architectural settings.

The lamp features warm 2700K LED light with CRI 80, with output varying by size: 900 lumens for the 50 cm version, 1,350 lumens for the 70 cm version, and 1,800 lumens for the 100 cm version. A 220-240V LED driver 12V DC Triac dimmable power supply is included, with 110V available with a non-dimmable driver. With its woven aluminum construction, adjustable 170 cm suspension cable, and unmistakable spherical form, Fil de Fer is both a functional pendant lamp and a luminous sculpture of enduring character.
