Eileen Gray's E 1027 Table: A Design Conceived for Living
Eileen Gray designed the E 1027 table in 1927 not as a decorative gesture but as a tool for living, a cantilevered tubular steel ring that slides over a bed or sofa and locks at any height the body requires. It was furniture conceived around a person, and nearly a century later that logic remains radical. The story behind the table is inseparable from the story of Gray herself: an architect and designer whose recognition arrived, painfully, decades after it was due.

LC14 Tabouret Cabanon: Le Corbusier's Smallest Architecture
In 1952, Le Corbusier built himself a cabin on the French Riviera measuring 3.66 by 3.66 meters. Every object inside it was an argument. The LC14 Tabouret Cabanon, reissued by Cassina in the I Maestri collection, is the smallest of those arguments and perhaps the most complete.

Sacco Chair by Zanotta: The 1968 Object That Refused to Be Furniture
In 1968, three Turin designers proposed a chair with no frame, no fixed angle, and no prescribed posture. The Zanotta Sacco bean bag, filled with expanded polystyrene pellets, adapts to whoever sits inside it, a counter-cultural proposition that entered MoMA's permanent collection and has never left production. Here is why it still earns its place in a serious interior.

The Wishbone Chair: Hans Wegner's CH24 and the Art of Making
Since 1950, the CH24 has remained in uninterrupted production at Carl Hansen & Søn, a record that few chairs in the modern canon can match. Hans J. Wegner distilled decades of study into a single, resolved form: a Y-shaped back rail, a steam-bent top, and 120 meters of hand-woven paper cord. The making is the argument.

Cassina Chairs - The Collectors' Guide
Few furniture makers have shaped the chair as a cultural object the way Cassina has. From their earliest collaborations with the European avant-garde to their ongoing stewardship of the twentieth century's most consequential seating designs, the Meda-based manufacturer remains the standard against which Italian furniture brands are measured. This guide surveys the Cassina chairs we carry and the ideas embedded in each one.

The 14p Portable Lamp: Bocci's Cast-Glass Sphere, Untethered
The 14p Portable Lamp by Omer Arbel translates Bocci's celebrated cast-glass sphere into a cordless instrument, preserving every hand-formed irregularity of the original 14 Series while gaining the freedom to move. It is a quiet argument that portability and material rigor are not mutually exclusive.

The Arco Lamp: Achille Castiglioni's Arc Over Sixty Years
In 1962, Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni solved a problem most designers hadn't thought to name: how to light a dining table from the floor, without touching the ceiling. The Arco lamp is their answer, and it has not needed revision. Over sixty years later, it remains one of the most studied objects in postwar Italian design, and one of the most copied.

The LC3 Sofa: Le Corbusier, Jeanneret, and Perriand's Grand Confort
Conceived in 1928 as the Grand Confort grand modèle, the LC3 sofa places its cushions inside an exposed tubular steel basket, making structure and comfort visible as separate systems. Nearly a century on, the Cassina I Maestri edition preserves that discipline with exacting precision across frame finishes, cushion constructions, and leather programs. This is the definitive guide to understanding, specifying, and authenticating the LC3.
