The Art of Coming Together: Luminaire at Design West Hollywood 2026

Celebrating creativity, contemporary design, and the connections that bring Los Angeles' design community together.

This September, the West Hollywood Design District became a vibrant stage for creativity as Design West Hollywood 2026 returned for its second edition. From September 29 through October 1, the three-day celebration brought together leading voices in architecture, interiors, art, hospitality, and culture to explore the ideas shaping the future of design.

Presented by the West Hollywood Design District in partnership with LUXE Interiors + Design and Visit West Hollywood, this year's edition embraced the theme Magical Thinking, an invitation to explore the relationship between imagination, innovation, and the spaces we inhabit.

At the heart of the celebration, Luminaire Los Angeles welcomed the design community for the festival's Opening Night Soirée, followed by an intimate gathering at Arclinea Los Angeles.

On September 29, Luminaire opened its doors to the creative community for an evening dedicated to design, culture, and connection.

Set within Luminaire's 15,500-square-foot flagship on Beverly Boulevard, the Opening Night Soirée brought together architects, interior designers, artists, and industry leaders for an evening of conversation and discovery.

Surrounded by exceptional contemporary furniture, lighting, and objects from internationally celebrated brands including B&B Italia, Poltrona Frau, and Edra, guests experienced a space where design transcends the ordinary.

The evening captured the distinctive energy of West Hollywood, where architecture, fashion, art, and design converge. More than a celebration, it was an opportunity to exchange ideas, strengthen relationships, and recognize the creative community that continues to shape Los Angeles.

A Shared Vision for Contemporary Design

In collaboration with LUXE Interiors + Design, Design West Hollywood offered a dynamic program of conversations, exhibitions, and experiences exploring the evolving meaning of luxury and the role of creativity in contemporary living.

For Luminaire, the occasion reflected a philosophy cultivated for more than five decades: that meaningful design has the power to inspire, transform, and connect.

Through its carefully curated collections and longstanding relationships with the world's most influential designers and manufacturers, Luminaire continues to champion design as an essential part of culture and everyday life.

Sundown Sips: The Art of Gathering at Arclinea

The celebration continued on September 30 at Arclinea Los Angeles, where guests gathered for Sundown Sips, an intimate evening dedicated to Italian craftsmanship and the art of living.

Located on North Robertson Boulevard, the Arclinea showroom offered a distinctive setting for conversation and discovery. Here, the kitchen becomes more than a functional environment; it is a place for gathering, creativity, and shared experiences.

Through architectural compositions, refined materials, and innovative design solutions, Arclinea expresses a vision of contemporary living where beauty and performance coexist.

The evening celebrated this philosophy through the simple pleasures of hospitality, conversation, and connection, reinforcing the shared values that define the partnership between Arclinea and Luminaire.

Where Design and Community Meet

Across three days, Design West Hollywood 2026 reaffirmed the city's position as a destination for creative expression and cultural exchange.

From the energy of Luminaire's Opening Night Soirée to the intimate atmosphere of Arclinea's Sundown Sips, the celebrations reflected a belief that design is as much about people and experiences as it is about objects and spaces.

Luminaire extends its gratitude to the West Hollywood Design District, LUXE Interiors + Design, its brand partners, and the extraordinary creative community who made the celebrations possible.

As the week came to a close, one idea remained: great design brings people together.

Sophie Goineau

In Conversation with Sophie Goineau

Interior architect Sophie Goineau designs across scales, from a single object to the architecture around it and the land beyond. She discusses composing interiors as one continuous experience, letting each place and its people shape a project's language, and her work on Selby Lane with the San Francisco team.

Cassina Tabouret Stools.

Charlotte Perriand's Tabouret Stools: Alpine Form, Modern Use

Charlotte Perriand first drew the tabouret stool not from theory but from mountain life, recognizing in the shepherd's three-legged seat an economy of form that no studio exercise could improve upon. Cassina has produced both the low Tabouret Berger and the taller Tabouret Méribel since their 1955 introduction, preserving the hand-turned wood and the quietly shaped seat that make these objects as relevant in a contemporary interior as they were in Perriand's own Alpine chalet.

Eileen Gray's E 1027 Table

Eileen Gray's E 1027 Table: A Design Conceived for Living

Eileen Gray designed the E 1027 table in 1927 not as a decorative gesture but as a tool for living, a cantilevered tubular steel ring that slides over a bed or sofa and locks at any height the body requires. It was furniture conceived around a person, and nearly a century later that logic remains radical. The story behind the table is inseparable from the story of Gray herself: an architect and designer whose recognition arrived, painfully, decades after it was due.

LC14 Tabouret Cabanon

LC14 Tabouret Cabanon: Le Corbusier's Smallest Architecture

In 1952, Le Corbusier built himself a cabin on the French Riviera measuring 3.66 by 3.66 meters. Every object inside it was an argument. The LC14 Tabouret Cabanon, reissued by Cassina in the I Maestri collection, is the smallest of those arguments and perhaps the most complete.

Zanotta Sacco Bean Chair.

Sacco Chair by Zanotta: The 1968 Object That Refused to Be Furniture

In 1968, three Turin designers proposed a chair with no frame, no fixed angle, and no prescribed posture. The Zanotta Sacco bean bag, filled with expanded polystyrene pellets, adapts to whoever sits inside it, a counter-cultural proposition that entered MoMA's permanent collection and has never left production. Here is why it still earns its place in a serious interior.

Wishbone Chairs.

The Wishbone Chair: Hans Wegner's CH24 and the Art of Making

Since 1950, the CH24 has remained in uninterrupted production at Carl Hansen & Søn, a record that few chairs in the modern canon can match. Hans J. Wegner distilled decades of study into a single, resolved form: a Y-shaped back rail, a steam-bent top, and 120 meters of hand-woven paper cord. The making is the argument.

Cassina Chairs - The Collectors' Guide

Few furniture makers have shaped the chair as a cultural object the way Cassina has. From their earliest collaborations with the European avant-garde to their ongoing stewardship of the twentieth century's most consequential seating designs, the Meda-based manufacturer remains the standard against which Italian furniture brands are measured. This guide surveys the Cassina chairs we carry and the ideas embedded in each one.

Edra on the Rocks Sofa

Bocci 14P at Luminaire Showroom Event.

The 14p Portable Lamp: Bocci's Cast-Glass Sphere, Untethered

The 14p Portable Lamp by Omer Arbel translates Bocci's celebrated cast-glass sphere into a cordless instrument, preserving every hand-formed irregularity of the original 14 Series while gaining the freedom to move. It is a quiet argument that portability and material rigor are not mutually exclusive.
