Capturing the senses and affecting the emotions, the inimitable connection between objects and humans defines the future of design this April.

Infusing Milan with the boundless energy of dynamic forms and mind-opening concepts, the 2025 Salone del Mobile is poised to erupt with much anticipated zeal at Fiera Milano, Rho from April 8th to the 13th, bringing with it a symphony of cutting-edge aesthetics fused with captivating experiences as hundreds of thousands of design enthusiasts and members of the public stroll along a newly updated circular floor plan, encountering works that engage and excite and interacting with a robust cultural program designed to take guests on a journey of timelessness and multisensory events that act as an invisible bridge between the present and the future. As we prepare to embark on a voyage of discovery at this year’s Salone del Mobile, we offer a glance inside what to expect this year, whose designs will set the scene, and what themes will narrate our tour of the innovative and refined.

In the halls of the main fair at the 2025 Salone del Mobile, over 2,000 exhibitors from 37 countries will display beautifully curated spaces replete with objects both new and established that reimagine what role design plays in the surroundings we traverse. Exhibitors whose works take a close inspection of the well-crafted and thoughtfully designed, defining how good design affects people’s lives with emotionally poignant and visually arresting objects, encompass a number of Luminaire partners, including  Ambientec, Artemide, Atelier Vierkant, ClassiCon, Davide Groppi, Desalto, Edra, Flexform, Flos, Gardeco, Glas Italia, Kartell, Kettal, Knoll, Kymo, Living Divani, Lumina Italia, MDF Italia, Molteni & C, Porro, Prostoria, Roda, SantambrogioMilano, Sollos, Venini, and more. In Pavillions 13 through 15 of the main fair, a focus on the grace and ingenuity of Italian design will emerge in a section called Luxury Way, where the all-Italian ability to craft timeless objects comes to life in a celebration of that which is elegant, finely crafted, and modern. Other segments of the fair will include International Furnishing Accessories, where at the heart of a wonder-filled exhibition lies the ability to personalize one’s space with furnishing accessories, artful objects, decorative items and textiles, and a return of Workplace 3.0 and S Project, both of which look toward the future by showcasing present-day solutions to workspaces alongside the riveting harmonies of turnkey interior design.

Also on view at the 2025 Salone del Mobile is the illuminating Euroluce Biennial, that reveals lighting as not only technical and functional, but as emotionally relevant and artfully alluring as well with a presentation by over 300 exhibitors, half of whom are international. A forum titled Light for Life will bring together artists, architects, and scientists for a series of roundtables, workshops, and masterclasses with Marjan van Aubel, Stefano Mancuso, Robert Wilson, Patrick RImoux, Lonneke Gordijn, and Karou Mend to address the ever-evolving impact of lighting in contemporary design held at the Forest of Space Arena, a captivating installation by renowned Japanese architect Sou Fujimoto. Likewise in the Satellite space, the exhibition “New Craftsmanship: A New World” showcases 700 designers under 35 who are asked to reimagine the universe of the handmade beyond the vernacular, showcasing young talent in order to nurture the design leaders of tomorrow and call to mind questions of the artisanal touch in high-quality craftsmanship.

While perusing the exhibitor booths and exhibitions at this year’s Salone del Mobile, one can expect to encounter the deep connection that exists between humans and objects, revealing how our relationship to the world around us molds our moods and transform ordinary rituals into extraordinary experiences, both spellbinding and reassuring. The bond between humans and objects is the thread that will unite all aspects of the fair, alongside themes of timelessness, emotional intelligence, sustainable innovation, and the future of design. With multisensory installations like filmmaker Paolo Sorrentino’s “La Dolce Attesta”, architect Pierre-Yves Rochon’s “Villa Heritage” and artist Robert Wilson’s “Mother” we will witness how our present will inform our future as tradition unites with contemporary sensibilities, weaving throughout the cultural fabric of the fair.  An exploratory point of convergence for design creatives, business leaders, suppliers, and consumers, the Salone del Mobile is most certainly the celebratory star of the design calendar each year, and this April the expressive power of prototypes and innovations promise to address the evolution of our intimate spaces and lifestyles, defining how objects resonate with us emotionally and aesthetically from now and into the future.  As we anticipate this year’s Salone del Mobile, we are reminded how the synergies that fuel our daily lives are informed by the objects and well-designed environments that permeate them, and look forward to sharing our discoveries with our public to manifest jubilance and repose in the most profound spaces of our physical and emotional well-being, penetrating, reflective, and brilliant.
