Q Floor Lamp
Made by Davide Groppi
Designed by Alberto Zattin
Alberto Zattin's Q is a study in restraint. A concrete cube, 17 centimeters per side, sits on the floor with the composure of a found object, entirely indifferent to the conventions of decorative lighting.
From one face, an integrated projector casts light upward, grazing walls and ceilings to reveal the geometry of a room rather than simply fill it. The gesture is intentional and spare. Where most floor lamps announce themselves, the Q recedes, letting architecture speak.

Davide Groppi is an Italian lighting brand rooted in the conviction that light is an idea before it is a product. Each piece in the collection is designed to dissolve into its environment, shaping atmosphere through absence as much as presence.

Frequently Asked Questions
What material is the Q Floor Lamp base made from?
The base is cast from raw concrete, forming a cube measuring 17 centimeters per side. The unfinished surface is intentional, giving the lamp the quiet presence of a found or site-specific object.
How does the Q Floor Lamp illuminate a room?
The Q uses an upward-facing projector built into one face of the concrete cube. Light grazes walls and ceilings rather than radiating outward, which sculpts volume and draws attention to the architectural surfaces of the space.
Who designed the Q Floor Lamp?
The Q was designed by Alberto Zattin in collaboration with Davide Groppi, an Italian brand known for lighting conceived as minimal, idea-driven objects rather than conventional fixtures.
Is the Q Floor Lamp suitable for indirect or ambient lighting?
Yes. The upward projection creates indirect, diffused light that defines atmosphere and reveals spatial geometry. It is particularly well suited to rooms where the architecture itself is meant to be experienced.
What kind of interior does the Q Floor Lamp work best in?
The Q is designed for architectural interiors where restraint and proportion are priorities. Its minimal concrete form reads well in spaces that favor raw or refined materiality, from concrete and plaster to stone and plywood.
