Graphium Coffee Table
Made by Zanotta
Designed by García Cumini
García Cumini drew from an unexpected source for the Graphium: the bilateral symmetry and graphic precision of tropical butterflies. The result is a coffee table, or a nesting pair, that holds two visual ideas in productive tension. Marble, with all its geological weight and surface variation, rests on a steel base so slender and organically articulated that it reads almost as a drawn line.
The wing-like quality of the base is not decorative flourish. It is structural thinking made visible, a silhouette that gives the piece its sense of arrested motion. Stone appears to float. The contrast between material density and formal delicacy is what distinguishes Graphium from conventional stone tables.

Zanotta has been producing furniture of formal and cultural consequence since 1954, working with designers who treat the domestic object as a site of inquiry. Graphium continues that practice.

Frequently Asked Questions
What marble is used in the Graphium coffee table?
Zanotta specifies natural marble for the Graphium top, which means each piece carries its own pattern of veining and tonal variation. The exact marble variety should be confirmed at time of order, as material options can vary by production run.
Can the Graphium tables be used as a nesting or stacking pair?
The Graphium is designed to function both as a single accent table and as a coordinated pair. The two tables are sized and proportioned to be arranged together, creating a unified composition without being identical.
Who is García Cumini and what is their design approach?
García Cumini is a Turin-based design studio known for work that moves between industrial precision and organic reference. Their projects for manufacturers like Zanotta often begin with a conceptual prompt drawn from nature, science, or visual culture, which is then resolved through rigorous formal and material decisions.
How long does the Graphium take to deliver?
As a made-to-order piece produced in Italy by Zanotta, the Graphium carries an extended lead time. Specific shipping estimates are provided at the time of purchase and can vary depending on current production schedules.
How should a natural marble table top be maintained?
Natural marble is porous and sensitive to acidic substances, so routine care involves prompt wiping of spills and use of pH-neutral cleaners. Periodic sealing can help preserve the surface, though many owners accept the gradual patina that develops with use as part of the material's character.
