93 Random
Made by Bocci
Designed by Omer Arbel
Each pendant in the 93 Random collection begins with a gesture that cannot be rehearsed: molten aluminum introduced into hand-blown glass. The aluminum cools on contact, contracting and oxidizing into an irregular internal form that is never repeated. The result reads differently at every angle, every hour of day.
Suspended from slender coaxial cables, the approximately 203 mm globes hold their oxidized aluminum cores in suspension, visible through the glass like a landscape trapped in amber. The material contrast, fire-formed metal within something as fragile and precise as mouth-blown glass, gives the collection its particular tension.
- Available as a single pendant or in multi-light arrangements of up to 20 pieces
- Standard and mini canopy options for installation flexibility across ceiling heights
- Warm 2700K LED illumination, calibrated to draw out the depth of the glass and the oxidized surface beneath
The 93 Random scales from a single statement pendant over a dining table to a suspended composition filling a double-height atrium. Its character shifts with scale: intimate in small groupings, atmospheric and almost geological in larger arrangements. No two installations share the same internal choreography.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who designed the Bocci 93 Series?
The 93 Series was designed by Omer Arbel, the Vancouver-based architect and designer who serves as Bocci's creative director. Arbel's practice is rooted in process-led making, where the manufacturing method itself determines the final form, rather than a predetermined shape guiding production.
How is the aluminum form created inside the glass?
Molten aluminum is introduced directly into a hand-blown glass globe while both materials are at working temperature. The aluminum cools and contracts rapidly on contact with the glass interior, oxidizing as it solidifies. Because the process is governed by thermal physics rather than a mold or tool, every internal form is singular and unrepeatable.
Can the 93 Random be configured as a large multi-pendant installation?
Yes. The collection supports arrangements of up to 20 pendants suspended from a single canopy, with both standard and mini canopy options available. The coaxial cables can be set at varying lengths, allowing designers to compose installations that respond to ceiling height, room proportion, and the density of light desired.
What light source does the 93 Random use?
The 93 Random uses warm 2700K LED illumination. This color temperature was chosen to complement the amber and oxidized tones of the aluminum interior, enriching the apparent depth of the glass rather than bleaching it.
Is Bocci's work suitable for hospitality and architectural projects?
Bocci's pendants are specified widely across residential, hospitality, and institutional contexts. The studio works closely with architects and interior designers on large-scale commissions, and the 93 Random's scalable configuration, from a single pendant to a 20-piece composition, makes it well suited to both intimate and monumental spaces.
