Nuvola Rossa
Made by Cassina
Designed by Vico Magistretti
- Autoportante senza pannello posteriore

Domande Frequenti
Who designed the Nuvola Rossa bookcase and when?
The Nuvola Rossa was designed by Milanese architect and designer Vico Magistretti in 1977 for Cassina. It is widely regarded as one of his most elegant and structurally inventive pieces.
How does the Nuvola Rossa stay stable without a back panel?
The bookcase relies on a system of interlocking solid wood joints between the uprights and shelves to achieve structural rigidity - no back panel or metal hardware is required. The geometry itself provides the stability.
What wood options are available for the Nuvola Rossa?
The Nuvola Rossa is offered by Cassina in a range of solid wood finishes; available configurations and finishes should be confirmed at time of inquiry, as options may vary by production period.
Is the Nuvola Rossa considered a design classic?
Yes - the Nuvola Rossa is part of Cassina's permanent Icons collection, which preserves historically significant works by masters of 20th-century design. It appears in major design museum collections and histories of Italian modernism.
What is Vico Magistretti's design legacy?
Vico Magistretti (1920-2006) was one of the defining figures of Italian postwar design, celebrated for his ability to synthesize rationalist rigor with warmth and wit. His work for Cassina, Artemide, and other leading manufacturers continues to influence contemporary design practice.
