Vico Magistretti disegnò la Dalù nel 1969 come un unico, ininterrotto gesto. La forma a casco in termoplastica stampata non richiedeva alcun ornamento, alcun assemblaggio, nessun riferimento storico per giustificarsi. Paralume, corpo e personalità nascevano in un'unica curva continua.
La lampada apparve nel momento preciso in cui i designer italiani stavano interrogando cosa la plastica potesse essere in sé, non come surrogato di altri materiali. Magistretti rispose con economia e arguzia. La Dalù non adattò la forma tradizionale del paralume; la congedò.
L'attuale riedizione rimane fedele alle proporzioni originali del 1969, preservando la scala e la sicurezza che resero il pezzo così immediato al suo arrivo. Disponibile in diversi colori, la forma si legge diversamente in ciascuno, ma la convinzione sottostante della silhouette non vacilla mai.
