A single block of Carrara marble. No joints, no assembly - only subtraction. Finnish designer Mikko Laakkonen conceived U-Turn as an act of reduction, coaxing a sinuous, self-supporting form from one of the most storied stones in the world.
The result reads differently from every angle. What appears as a fluid gesture from one side becomes a study in negative space from another. At 70 kg, it anchors a room with quiet authority, yet the curving silhouette keeps it from ever feeling heavy.
Carrara marble carries centuries of sculptural history, from Renaissance workshops to modernist studios. U-Turn draws on that lineage without quoting it directly. The surface retains its natural veining, ensuring each piece is categorically one of a kind.
