Victor Vasilev's Mamba Desk begins as a single, sweeping gesture. Wall-mounted and composed in Cristalplant resin, it reads at first as pure sculpture, its arcing silhouette drawing the eye before the function reveals itself. The workspace emerges from the form rather than being imposed upon it.
Cristalplant, a bio-based composite developed in Italy, lends the surface a warmth that belies its rigidity. It resists the coldness often associated with synthetic materials, aging gracefully and responding to light with a soft, matte depth. The material is as considered as the form around it.
