Giulio Cappellini draws from the ancient gravity of megalithic stone structures, translating that ceremonial weight into a dining table that functions first as sculpture. The Dolmen is a direct, formal proposition: a 3cm-thick marble top resting upon two freestanding semi-circular bases, each cut from the same stone slab as the surface above.
The relationship between top and base is material, not mechanical. The bases stand independently, and their shared origin in a single slab creates a continuous dialogue of grain and tonality across the entire piece. No hardware intervenes. The composition holds through proportion and mass alone.
Dolmen is offered in four marble expressions, each carrying the particular character of its stone:
- White Carrara, with a fine, luminous grain and cool surface temperature
- Alpi Green, deep and richly veined
- Travertino, warm and lightly straw-toned
- Rome Grey, with quiet, even patterning
