The Cestone challenges a quiet assumption in upholstered furniture: that the back and sides are secondary. Here, they are the point. A metal frame is wrapped in woven strips of cowhide, two widths interlaced in an irregular pattern that can be tightly compact or more open, allowing the underlying fabric to surface and shift the composition.
The contrast between the woven exterior and the soft, goose-down-filled cushions of the seat is deliberate. Firm geometry on the outside, ease within. The cowhide itself acquires a subtle patina over time, the weave holding light differently as it ages.
