Bell Side Table Das Haus 2016 Edition
Made by Classicon
Designed by Sebastian Herkner
Introduced in 2012, the Bell Side Table became the work that placed Sebastian Herkner within the international design canon. The Das Haus 2016 Edition is a strictly limited chapter of that story, produced to accompany Herkner's immersive installation at imm cologne and individually serialized as a collector's object.
The glass stem is hand-blown using a traditional wood mould, then flashed white on the interior, a technique with roots in centuries of European glassmaking. This process creates a depth that shifts with light, reading simultaneously as vessel and architecture. The curving silhouette gives quiet reference to the bell form the table is named for.
- Hand-blown glass stem formed with a traditional wood mould
- Interior flashed in white for sculptural opacity and depth
- Polished aluminum funnel contrasted against a mirrored glass tabletop
- Individually serialized, limited to the 2016 Das Haus production
Herkner's sensibility has always moved between material memory and contemporary form. Here, craft and precision are not in opposition. They arrive at the same gesture.

Frequently Asked Questions
What makes the Das Haus 2016 Edition different from the standard Bell Side Table?
The Das Haus 2016 Edition was produced specifically for Sebastian Herkner's installation at imm cologne and is individually serialized, distinguishing it from the standard production. Its white-flashed interior glass stem and mirrored tabletop combination are particular to this limited release.
What is the white-flashing technique used on the glass stem?
White flashing is a centuries-old European glassmaking process in which a thin layer of white glass is fused to the interior of a clear or colored glass form during blowing. The result is a layered opacity that shifts in character depending on the light source and angle.
Who is Sebastian Herkner and why is the Bell Side Table significant?
Sebastian Herkner is a Frankfurt-based designer whose work bridges traditional craft techniques and rigorous contemporary form. The Bell Side Table, first introduced in 2012, became his most recognized piece and established his international presence as a designer working at the intersection of industrial and artisanal production.
Is the Bell Side Table Das Haus edition still in production?
The Das Haus 2016 Edition was a strictly limited production tied to a specific exhibition context. Each piece was individually serialized, and availability is finite by definition.
What materials are used in the Bell Side Table?
The table combines a hand-blown glass stem formed with a traditional wood mould, a polished aluminum funnel, and a mirrored glass tabletop. The Das Haus edition features a white-flashed interior on the glass stem, adding a layer of craft specific to this version.
