Michael Anastassiades ha concepito la String Light come una meditazione sull'assenza. Un cavo teso e spoglio attraversa una stanza e termina in un unico diffusore luminoso, ponendosi la domanda su quanto poco possa essere una lampada pur dominando completamente uno spazio.
La premessa attinge a due sensibilità opposte: il rigore geometrico dell'infrastruttura industriale e il calore informale delle serate mediterranee trascorse intorno alla luce. Nessuna delle due domina. Il risultato è un oggetto che si legge in modo diverso a seconda che sia illuminato o buio, occupato o vuoto.
Il corpo in alluminio pressofuso verniciato presenta una finitura soft-touch. Il diffusore in policarbonato opalino, disponibile nelle configurazioni a sfera o a croce, diffonde la luce senza drammi, producendo un'atmosfera di quieta chiarezza piuttosto che di spettacolo. L'attenuazione è controllata dalla pressione sul cavo, un gesto elementare quanto il design stesso.
