Tavolo Materic

The tabletop is crafted from white Carrara marble, sourced from the Apuan Alps in Tuscany. Carrara marble is prized for its fine grain and luminous quality, and its precise veining varies naturally from piece to piece.

The base is assembled from twelve solid ash boards that have been turned and connected using finger joints, a traditional woodworking technique that creates a strong mechanical bond without concealing the joinery. The boards are stained black, allowing the wood grain pattern to remain visible across the full cone form.

The central rotating disc is integrated directly into the marble tabletop, functioning as a lazy Susan. It allows diners to share dishes without reaching across the table, a practical detail handled with the same formal care as the rest of the design.

Piero Lissoni is a Milan-based architect and designer whose practice spans furniture, product design, graphic design, and architecture. His work is characterized by rigorous proportion, an emphasis on material honesty, and a restraint that tends to make objects feel resolved rather than reduced.

The Materic table's scale and material presence make it well suited to formal dining environments, though its sculptural base and the warmth of the ash grain give it enough character to anchor less traditional spaces as well. Its round form encourages conversation and works particularly well in rooms where the table is visible from multiple angles.
