Infinito Wall
Made by Cassina
Designed by Franco Albini
Franco Albini conceived Infinito between 1956 and 1957 as a system without a fixed state. The solid wood frame rises floor to ceiling, its verticals height-adjustable, its shelves and storage units repositioned at will. A room can be organized around it, or divided by it.
Cassina reissued the piece in 2008, applying industrial manufacturing processes that expanded the range of frame finishes and components without compromising Albini's original logic. The system now offers standard and drop-down door configurations alongside open shelving, each option extending the range of what the bookcase can hold and how it presents itself.
Albini was among the most disciplined figures of postwar Italian design, consistently refusing ornament in favor of structural clarity. Infinito reflects that sensibility: every element is visible, every joint considered. Used from either side, it reads as a complete object rather than a backed unit pushed against a wall.
