Diamond Table
Made by Molteni&C
Designed by Patricia Urquiola
Patricia Urquiola conceived the Diamond Table as a study in controlled tension. The base is formed from folded aluminum sheets, a gesture borrowed from origami, reinforced internally with aluminum and polyurethane to achieve both visual delicacy and structural integrity. The result is a leg that appears almost weightless while carrying the full authority of a sculptural object.
Available in square and rectangular formats, the tabletop can be specified in glass, marble, or wood, each finish shifting the piece's character without altering its essential identity. The Diamond Table received the Red Dot Design Award Best of the Best in 2005, one of the most demanding distinctions in international product design.
