Tolomeo Diffusore Wall
Made by Artemide
Designed by Michele De Lucchi and Giancarlo Fassina
Few lamps carry the cultural weight of the Tolomeo. Conceived in 1987 by Michele De Lucchi and Giancarlo Fassina for Artemide, the design emerged from a rigorous study of tension and equilibrium, replacing the bulky springs of earlier task lighting with a slender system of cables and counterweights. The exposed aluminum structure became its own argument for precision.
The Diffusore Wall interpretation translates that precision into a gentler register. Fixed directly to the wall, the diffuser head softens the lamp's characteristic directional output into an ambient glow suited to intimate rooms and hospitality environments alike. A dimmer integrated into the head keeps control immediate and discreet.
- Polished and anodized aluminum body

The Tolomeo line has earned a permanent place in the collection of the Museum of Modern Art, a recognition that reflects not prestige alone, but the enduring coherence of its form.
