Panthella 250 Portable Table Lamp
Made by Louis Poulsen
Designed by Verner Panton
Verner Panton conceived the original Panthella in 1971 as a study in pure form: a trumpet-shaped base that curves upward into a spherical diffuser, every line following the logic of the light itself. The Panthella 250 Portable carries that vision forward without compromising it.
At 250 millimeters, the portable edition is compact enough to move freely through a room, onto a terrace, or onto a bedside shelf, yet its proportions remain faithful to Panton's originals. The opal acrylic diffuser scatters light evenly, eliminating glare while producing the warm, enveloping glow the Panthella silhouette has always promised.
- USB-C rechargeable battery with up to 45 hours of runtime
- Four-step touch dimmer for precise atmosphere control
- Damp-rated construction suited to sheltered outdoor settings
- Produced in Denmark under Louis Poulsen's longstanding manufacturing standards
The Panthella 250 Portable is less a product update than a considered translation. Portability is treated here not as a convenience feature but as an extension of the lamp's original character: light that belongs wherever you place it.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long does the Panthella 250 Portable battery last?
The Panthella 250 Portable offers up to 45 hours of battery life on a full USB-C charge, though runtime will vary depending on the selected brightness level on the four-step dimmer.
Is the Panthella 250 Portable safe to use outdoors?
The lamp is damp-rated, meaning it is suitable for sheltered outdoor environments such as covered terraces or porches, but it should not be exposed to direct rain or submersion.
How does the Panthella 250 Portable relate to Verner Panton's original 1971 design?
The portable edition preserves Panton's defining formal gestures - the organic trumpet base and spherical opal diffuser - while scaling the form to 250 mm and integrating contemporary rechargeable technology. The design authorship and visual language remain intact.
What materials is the Panthella 250 Portable made from?
The shade and base are formed in opal acrylic, which diffuses light softly and evenly. The lamp is produced in Denmark by Louis Poulsen, the Copenhagen-based manufacturer that has collaborated with Panton's designs since the lamp's original introduction.
How does the Panthella 250 compare in size to other Panthella editions?
The Panthella family spans several diameters, from the compact 160 mm mini to the full 400 mm floor lamp. At 250 mm, the portable edition occupies a considered middle scale, generous enough to read as a primary light source on a table, yet proportioned for flexible placement throughout a space.
