The Dot Pattern begins with an unproduced idea. In 1947, Charles and Ray Eames submitted a graphic textile design to a MoMA competition in New York. The pattern was never manufactured during their lifetimes, yet it persisted as one of the most recognizable visual signatures of their studio.
Cassina revives that motif in metal, translating the cross-shaped compositions of tapered lines and round dots into a wall-mounted lamp. The geometry has drawn varied readings over the decades: some perceive its cadence as musical notation, others recognize the silhouette of molded shell chairs, tubular steel frames, and the distinctive shock mounts that defined a generation of seating.
