La sedia Tropicalia di Patricia Urquiola è uno studio sulla lavorazione artigianale meditata. Una struttura sfaccettata in acciaio inossidabile tubolare o acciaio verniciato a polvere fornisce la geometria, mentre la superficie è interamente dedicata all'intreccio a mano, alternando pieni e vuoti in un motivo che ricompensa l'attenzione.
Il carattere di ogni pezzo cambia con la scelta del materiale. I fili di polimero termoplastico senza metalli pesanti introducono colore e un senso di leggerezza. I cordoni in poliestere ad alta tenacità, avvolti in un unico tono o in due, risultano essenziali e architettonici. La versione da interni, rifinita in pelle, ha un peso del tutto diverso.
