Lost-wax casting, or cire perdue, is one of the oldest bronze-working techniques. A wax model is encased in ceramic, the wax is melted out, and molten bronze is poured into the resulting cavity. This process preserves fine surface detail and allows each cast to carry the direct marks of the sculptor's hand.

Bronze is highly durable and develops a natural patina when exposed to the elements. While this piece is designed to tolerate sheltered outdoor environments, placement away from direct, prolonged weather exposure will best preserve its applied green patina finish over time.

A signed and numbered bronze indicates the work belongs to a limited edition, with each piece individually authenticated by the artist. The number identifies its position within the edition, establishing both provenance and collectibility.

Ann Vrielinck is a Belgian sculptor whose work focuses on the human figure as an expression of emotion and relationship rather than likeness. Working primarily in bronze, she develops forms through direct modeling, with textured surfaces that retain an immediacy of touch even after casting.

Indoor bronze sculptures benefit from occasional gentle dusting and, periodically, a light application of microcrystalline wax to protect the patina surface. Harsh chemical cleaners should be avoided, as they can strip the applied finish and alter the intended color of the piece.
