Il tavolino Mex-Hi di Piero Lissoni è un oggetto accuratamente studiato, dove la relazione tra i materiali parla da sé. Una struttura in acciaio, precisa nella sua geometria, ancora una composizione di superfici: un vassoio in legno, un piano in pietra, o entrambi nella configurazione più grande, dove i due coesistono in deliberato contrasto.
Il meccanismo che tiene insieme il tutto è tanto studiato quanto la forma stessa. I piani e i vassoi sono fissati alla parte inferiore della struttura in acciaio tramite una serie di pomelli, un dettaglio onesto, funzionale e raffinato in egual misura. Nulla è nascosto. Nulla è eccessivo.
